CloudBox Vault

Off-site backup that speaks S3

Point your NAS, your server or your cPanel box at one endpoint and it backs itself up to UK storage. No agent to install, no minimum storage duration, and 10 GB free to try it properly.

It works with the backup software you already run

Vault is an S3-compatible endpoint, so anything that can write to S3 can write to Vault. You change the destination, not your workflow.

Synology & QNAP

Hyper Backup and HBS 3 both take a custom S3 endpoint — and both encrypt on your NAS before anything leaves the building.

cPanel & WHM

Add Vault as an Additional Destination and your account backups land off-site automatically.

restic, rclone, Veeam

Standard S3 with multipart uploads and Object Lock, so the tools you already script against just work.

Two things most providers charge you for

No minimum storage duration

Delete a backup the day after you write it and you pay for a day. Providers with a 90-day minimum charge you for 90 — which is most of what a short retention cycle actually costs.

UK storage, priced in pounds

Your data sits on our own hardware in the UK and your bill is in GBP, so it doesn’t move when the exchange rate does.

Object Lock

Write-once retention on a bucket, so ransomware on the source machine can’t reach back and delete your backups.

Pricing

One rate, billed monthly, minimum 1 TB on paid plans. Volume rates apply automatically — and you never pay more than a larger plan costs.

Elastic, but never a surprise. Turn on auto-expand and we move you up a tier when you get close to full, so a backup never fails for want of room. We email you the exact new price before anything changes, you can set a hard spend limit we will not cross, and we move you back down again when your usage drops.
Paid plans are not open for purchase yet. The free 10 GB tier is live and fully usable today. We are finishing billing and will open paid plans shortly — the prices above are what they will be.

Setting it up

  1. Create your keys. Sign in, start Vault, and generate an access key and secret. The secret is shown once.
  2. Make a bucket. Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens.
  3. Paste four values into your backup software. Endpoint, region, access key, secret — the same four fields every S3 tool asks for.
  4. Run a backup. That is the whole setup.
Endpoint https://s3.cloudbox.biz
Region uk-1
Addressing style path
Access key ID CBX...............
Secret key (shown once when you create it)

10 GB free, no card

Enough to back up a real workload and see how it behaves.
